Relationships shape us. At the same time, our thoughts shape our relationships. Like waves, thoughts ebb and flow—sometimes gentle, sometimes crashing in. If we can pause and reflect, we can notice those thoughts, take them captive, and hold them up to what God says is true. This kind of awareness changes how we see reality—and it ripples into every relationship in our lives.
We’ve all walked through pain or seasons of harm. Because of that, intrusive thoughts show up, often bringing a rush of emotion. When those emotions threaten to engulf the boat, it’s not a sign of weakness or failure. It’s a normal response to our story. The question is: what do we do with these thoughts so they don’t hijack our day? Also, what happens when we allow the thoughts and allow those painful feelings to resurface? It feels like it will overtake us, but guess what? Something amazing happens. The next time the wave comes, it is smaller.

How true. I wish I had learned this a long time before. Would have been worth a sermon - I think.
